5-Year Limited Online Product Warranty
Gentry Stinson LLC warrants eligible products it manufactures and sells through GentryStinson.com or FloatingShelves.net against covered manufacturing defects for five years from the original purchase date, subject to the online-sales scope and terms below.
Online Product Sales Only
The five-year limited product warranty, 90-day electrical-component coverage, and online order-change, cancellation, return and refund terms apply only to eligible products purchased through our online store that are not installed by Gentry Stinson or anyone acting on our behalf and are not covered by a separate master agreement or project contract. All three conditions must be met.
These online terms do not apply to kitchen or bathroom projects, installed cabinetry, closets, built-ins, installation services or similar contracted work. Warranty coverage, changes, cancellations, returns, payment obligations and remedies for that work are governed by the applicable written project contract or master agreement and applicable law. Placing an order or paying a project invoice online does not bring that project under the online-product policies.
An otherwise eligible online product may be installed by the customer or an independently retained installer, subject to the product warranty’s installation-related exclusions. This scope clarification does not reduce rights required by law, amend a separate agreement or retroactively remove coverage promised for an existing purchase.
This written warranty is separate from the Refund Policy. It applies to covered manufacturing defects; it does not create a general right to return a configured or made-to-order product because of preference, measurement error, or specification selection.
Products Covered
Only products that meet all of the online-sales conditions above are eligible. Covered product categories include:
- Standard, Single Return, and Wall-to-Wall floating shelves;
- display pedestals and coordinated pedestal sets;
- fireplace mantels manufactured by Gentry Stinson;
- Gentry Stinson wall-mounted furniture and related architectural millwork sold under the same written warranty program.
The warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Five-Year Product Coverage
Covered product value by warranty year:
- Year 1
- 100%
- Year 2
- 85%
- Year 3
- 70%
- Year 4
- 55%
- Year 5
- 40%
For an approved claim where replacement or product credit is the appropriate remedy, the applicable percentage is applied to the then-current standard retail price of the same product or the closest reasonably comparable replacement product. The product credit is not redeemable for cash and cannot exceed the replacement-product price.
Electrical Components
Electrical components supplied by Gentry Stinson, including qualifying lighting-related components, are covered against manufacturing defects for 90 days from the original purchase date. Electrical coverage does not extend to third-party wiring, power supplies, controls, field installation, or components not supplied by Gentry Stinson.
What Is Covered
Subject to the exclusions below, covered manufacturing defects may include:
- failure of manufactured shells, precision miter joints, or bonded assemblies attributable to manufacturing;
- delamination or loss of bond attributable to the original manufacturing process;
- splitting, cracking, or permanent deformation attributable to manufacturing rather than installation, impact, loading, or environmental exposure;
- failure of a factory-applied Painted or Rubio Monocoat finish caused by a defect in the original finishing process.
Our Choice of Remedy
After evaluating an approved claim, Gentry Stinson may elect to repair the covered product, replace it, replace a covered component, or issue the applicable pro-rata product credit. The remedy depends on the condition, product availability, and whether repair or replacement is practical.
Unless required by law or specifically approved in writing, warranty coverage does not include freight, taxes, removal, installation, reinstallation, field finishing, site access, project delay, loss of use, or labor by others.
Installation, Mounting & Site Conditions
Installed performance depends on the actual substrate, framing or blocking, wall fasteners, anchorage, mounting method, installation quality, product dimensions, and load conditions. Damage caused by inadequate structure, inappropriate fasteners, improper installation, misuse, or site conditions is not a manufacturing defect.
For floating shelves, see our Floating Shelf Installation & Load Guidelines. For fireplace mantels, installation must comply with the fireplace manufacturer's instructions, applicable building and fire codes, and actual site conditions.
Paint Ready & Unfinished Products
The manufactured product remains subject to this warranty, but field-applied paint, stain, oil, clear coat, sealer, or other finish is outside Gentry Stinson's control and is not covered. This includes adhesion, sheen, color, durability, compatibility, and appearance of finishes applied after delivery.
Natural Material & Color Variation
Normal variation in real wood and veneer grain, figure, knots, mineral markings, tone, texture, and natural color change is not a defect. Digital color or material representations are references only and can vary by display and lighting conditions.
See our Color, Finish & Natural Material Variation Guide.
What Is Not Covered
- improper installation, unsuitable wall structure, inadequate blocking, or incorrect fasteners;
- overloading, concentrated loads, impact, accident, misuse, abuse, or use as a step, seat, ladder, grab bar, or climbing support;
- field modification of structural components, mounting systems, shells, joints, cleats, brackets, or reinforcement;
- outdoor use or exposure to excessive water, moisture, steam, heat, sunlight, chemicals, or other unsuitable environmental conditions;
- ordinary wear, scratches, dents, chips, abrasion, stains, or damage after delivery;
- normal variation or aging of natural materials;
- field-applied finishes or finishing systems applied by anyone other than Gentry Stinson;
- carrier damage when the appropriate remedy is a shipping or freight claim;
- third-party components not supplied by Gentry Stinson.
Shipping Damage Is Separate
If a product arrives with transportation damage, report it promptly and retain the packaging. Shipping damage is handled under our Shipping & FOB Phoenix Pricing Policy, not as a later manufacturing warranty claim.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
Email support@gentrystinson.com during the applicable warranty period and provide:
- the original order number or proof of purchase;
- the product and configuration involved;
- a description of the condition;
- clear photographs of the affected area;
- overall installation and mounting-condition photographs when relevant.
We may request measurements, installation information, additional photographs, or return of the product if reasonably necessary to evaluate coverage. Do not return a product without written return instructions.
Commercial & Trade Projects
Trade and commercial buyers qualify for this online-product warranty only when their purchase meets all of the online-sales conditions above. Products supplied under a separate master agreement or project contract, and work installed by Gentry Stinson or anyone acting on our behalf, are governed by that agreement and applicable law. The five-year online warranty and pro-rata schedule do not apply to those projects.
Limitation of Implied Warranties
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE FIVE-YEAR PERIOD OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties, so this limitation may not apply.
Limitation of Damages
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Gentry Stinson is not responsible under this limited warranty for incidental or consequential damages such as removal, reinstallation, labor by others, loss of use, lost profits, project delay, or damage to unrelated property.
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply.
Your Legal Rights
This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary by jurisdiction. Nothing in this warranty is intended to eliminate rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
